Make your child's birthday party even more special by hiring a fun character host to assist with running your party.
All character hosts are provided by Phineas Phrog Productions.
About Phineas Phrog
Phineas Phrog has worked with Auckland Zoo for over three years to provide exciting and interactive entertainment for kids birthday parties.

A character host can:
- Provide an entertaining presence
- organise an easy treasure hunt
- do simple face painting
- play games
- start some dancing
- take the children to look at certain animals on a fun zoo trail
- assist with party formalities such as handing out food and drink, present opening, cake cutting etc
- sit with the children while they eat
- sing happy birthday.
Or, choose a character host who can do all of the above and perform an interactive show (see details below). Hosts are available for your full two-hour booking (unless otherwise requested).
Interactive shows
These shows are ideally for children aged 3 to 7 years. All shows are approximately 20 minutes long and are interactive.
A professional actor encourages the children (and parents) to join in with animal-related games, actions and movement. These are based on active movement principles and encourage the use of imagination and participation. They include interesting, entertaining and educational zoo/animal facts and can be slotted in at anytime during the party. Prizes can be given out as part of the show.

Crazy Keeper Show |
Do you have what it takes to be a Zooper Hero? Are you as strong as an orangutan or as fast as a cheetah? Join our zookeeper as they explain how we can all become Zooper Heroes! (that's the name for an Auckland Zoo super hero) Learn what makes the animals at Auckland Zoo so special and about their unique special powers. See if you can match their super animal skills and demonstrate some of your own talents. This interactive Zooper Hero show is full of fun animal facts and silly zoo-related games. |

Princess/ Fairy Show |
Learn to be a princess with our beautiful Princess Rosebud. She will teach you how to dance for the ball, to act like a princess and all about her favourite royal pets (different animals at the zoo). Note: for larger parties we have done a Pirate and Fairy show where we get the boys to be pirates and the girls to be fairies, who play games against each other. |

Tiger/ Lion Show |
It is grrrrreat fun to be a tiger at Auckland Zoo! In this interactive show you will discover all the terrific things tigers can do, play some positively purrrrfect cat games and learn some big cat facts along the way. This show includes fun facts and games related to lots of the other animals you will see when you explore the Zoo as well. |
Pricing
Character host for two hours - $135
Character host and show for two hours - $270
Please note: hosts can entertain up to a maximum of 10 children. If there are more than 10 children attending it is imperative that two character hosts are booked.
Game prizes
Need quality, fun prizes for your party games? We have a selection of fabulous prizes (from the Zoo's WildZone gift shop) available for purchase. They will be wrapped and ready for you on the day. Animal ears are also available.
